What is a good snowboard to buy for a beginner? Brand and style and expected price of used board?

I am considering a Burton Cruzer. Thoughts?

for a beginner you will want a freeride or all mountain board. Once you get better you can decide if you want/need a park board or a powder board. I am not sure what length of a board you need since you didnt state your weight. For Brands I would stick with Burton, Rome, Gnu, K2....i would stay away from Lamar, 5150...they are cheap, but you get what you pay for....Its getting closer to winter, but you can still find some great deals on ebay. There are new Rome Solutions and Crails that you can probably get for around $200, and you could get last years boots and bindings and you are around $350 total for a brand new set up. If you look for used stuff you could find a setup under $250....you are on the right track with the Cruzer....
